Our last paper with the Touboul and Venance labs, ''Striatal endocannabinoids drive one-shot learning'', just got accepted in Nature Neuroscience. This work is about one-shot learning, the ability to form memories after a single, brief experience. Combining behavioral assays, ex vivo electrophysiology and computational modeling, we show that one-shot learning in the dorsal striatum of mice is mediated by endocannabinoid-dependent long-term potentiation. Salim's paper on the automatic detection of negation cues and scopes in biomedical texts has just been accepted. Check it out! Hanna's article on the automatic segmentation of functional ultra-sound (fUS) images has been published in Computers in Biology and Medicine. Since March 2025, I am head of the newly-created Office for AI & Digital Sciences of Inserm, the French National Institute for biomedical research and human health. Our work with the Venance Lab and Pierre Magistretti on astrocytic energetic fuelling of the neurons has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S.A. |
A "Directeur de Recherche" (i.e. research professor, with tenure) located in Lyon, France, I share my time between:
- Heading of the new Office for AI & Digital Sciences (Pôle IA & Numérique) of Inserm, the French National Institute for biomedical research and human health
- Heading of the research team AIstroSight, a joint team between Inria, the French National Institute for research in digital science and technology, the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL, Lyon University Hospital), University Claude-Bernard Lyon-1 and the company Theranexus.
- I am also Section Editor (Neuroscience) of the journal PLoS Computational Biology

A computational cell biologist, I use computer and mathematical models to study intracellular dynamics; in particular:
